- Used for
- Intensive phase (2 months) of drug-sensitive TB.
- Pakistan note
- Anti-TB drugs are supplied free through the National TB Control Programme (NTP) at designated DOTS centres. Do not buy or prescribe loose single drugs; incomplete or irregular treatment drives drug resistance.
Cautions
- Hepatotoxicity: stop and refer if jaundice or ALT > 3x ULN with symptoms
- Rifampicin turns urine and tears orange-red; reduces effect of oral contraceptives
